As the snow continues to accumulate here on January 23 – it’s 9 a.m. and we have well over 15 inches here in Southern Schuylkill County – I am thinking of cozy homes with fireplaces. Many owners choose to add a pellet stove to the home now as an additional (and economical) heat source.
I converted my wood burning fireplace to gas a few years ago, but now I’m thinking of going back to wood. A gas fire is nice, but it’s not the same. I don’t miss the dirt and mess of a wood fireplace, but I do miss the ambiance and crackling logs on the fire. Not to mention you don’t need an electric-fired starter to get the fire burning. Gas is much more convenient (a fire at the push of a button!) but not if the power goes out.
